Biography
Dr. Venita Eng is a palliative and hospice care physician with ten years of dedicated experience in helping patients and caregivers optimise their quality of life through a holistic approach by preventing and addressing their physical, psychosocial and spiritual concerns.
She earned her Bachelor of Medicine from the University of Indonesia in 2012. After several years of clinical practice, Dr. Venita witnessed firsthand the physical and emotional suffering that various illnesses take on patients. Driven by a desire to provide and improve patient comfort and elevating their quality of life, she pursued a Master of Science in Palliative Care from Newcastle University, UK in 2015 to deepen her expertise and graduated with distinction. In 2020, she completed an international clinical fellowship in Palliative and Supportive Care at the National Cancer Centre Singapore and Assisi Hospice, further broadening and advancing her expertise in comprehensive pain and symptom management, emotional support, and holistic, team-based care.
Beyond clinical practice, she is actively engaged in education, leadership, and community service. Since 2015, she has served as Head of Medical and Social Services at Yayasan Kanker Indonesia (Indonesia Cancer Society) Jakarta and is a National Palliative Care Trainer for both the Indonesian Ministry of Health and the Indonesian Neonatology Society. She mentors healthcare professionals across Indonesia through the EnPACT Palliative Training Project, a collaboration between the Singapore International Foundation and Yayasan Kanker Indonesia that works to expand access to palliative and hospice care and improve the quality of life for patients with serious illnesses.
Dr. Venita remains committed to fostering cross-border partnerships that strengthen palliative care and deepen people-to-people connections between Singapore and Indonesia.
Her research has been published in international journals such as JCO Global Oncology, BMC Palliative Care, Annals of Oncology, and the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management, focusing on the role of palliative care in Indonesia and other developing countries.
Dr. Venita Eng combines international training, academic contributions, and a commitment to holistic, patient-centred care. Fluent in both English and Bahasa Indonesia, she brings expertise and compassion to supporting patients and their families through every stage of the care journey.
