Biography
With over 20 years of experience, Prof. Dr. dr. Soehartati Gondhowiardjo, Sp.Onk.Rad(K), is an accomplished radiation oncologist. She is well respected and a leading figure in radiation oncology and advancing cancer care in Indonesia and the region.
She earned her medical degree in 1980 and became a certified radiologist in 1987 at the University of Indonesia, before specialising in Radiation Oncology at the Strahlentherapie Abteilung Wilhelm‐Waestfaelichen, Universitaet Muenster, Germany, in 1989. Prof. Tati later obtained her Ph.D. from Universitas Indonesia and AKH Vienna in 1998, playing a pivotal role in introducing advanced radiotherapy techniques nationwide.
She has held several national and regional leadership positions, including Chairperson of the National Cancer Control Committee (NCCC) from 2014 to 2019, Founder and Past President of Southeast Asian Radiation Oncology Group (SEAROG), Co-Founder and Past President of the Federation of Asian Organizations for Radiation Oncology (FARO), and Founder as well as President of the Indonesian Radiation Oncology Society (IROS).
She has also served as National Project Coordinator for several International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) initiatives since 2004, such as transitioning from 2D to 3D to Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT), Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT), Quality Assurance in Radiotherapy (QUATRO), Palliative Radiotherapy, among others.
Beyond her clinical expertise and patient-centred care, Prof. Tati is a trusted mentor, dedicated to shaping the next generation of radiation oncology specialists in Indonesia.
