Dr. dr. I Gde Sastra Winata is a prominent Senior Consultant and a specialist in gynecology cancer with expertise in the diagnosis, treatment and surgical management of cancers affecting the female reproductive system, including cervical, ovarian, endometrial, vulvar, and vaginal cancers, as well as gestational trophoblastic diseases. He is also an expert in detecting gynecological precancerous lesions and managing benign gynecological tumors. With more than 15 years of experience, he is committed to providing personalised, evidence-based cancer care while supporting women through every stage of their treatment journey.
Dr. dr. Sastra obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Medical Doctor degrees from Udayana University, Indonesia. He subsequently completed his specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and earned a Master of Biomedical Sciences from Udayana University. He further completed subspecialty training in Gynaecologic Oncology at Padjadjaran University Dr Hasan Sadikin General Hospital, Bandung, before obtaining his Doctor of Biomedical Sciences degree from Udayana University.
Dr. dr. Sastra served as the Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Udayana University Hospital while contributing to medical education as a lecturer at Udayana University.
With a strong interest in gynaecologic cancer research, particularly in cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer, HPV-related disease, cancer prevention and novel treatment approaches, Dr. dr. Sastra has authored and co-authored more than 100 scientific publications in peer-reviewed international and regional journals and is actively involved in academic research and professional education. He is also regularly invited to speak at national and international conferences on topics including cervical cancer prevention, HPV vaccination, ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer and advances in gynaecologic oncology.
He has actively served in various professional capacities such as being a current board member for the Indonesian Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists - Bali (Cervical Cancer Reduction Divison) and Board of Indonesian Society of Gynecologic Oncology (Endoscopy Divison) and also a member of the Indonesian Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (POGI), the Indonesian Society of Gynaecologic Oncology (INASGO), the Indonesian Medical Association and the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO).
Fluent in Bahasa Indonesia and English, he will be able to communicate with patients in the language they are most comfortable with.
