East Indonesia’s first PET/CT now at Icon Cancer Centre Bali
This marks a significant milestone as it is the only current provider of this advanced technology in Bali.
Introducing this technology means patients do not have to travel long distances or overseas to access advanced screening, leading to better patient experience and outcomes.
An innovative milestone
The centre is equipped with a Siemens Biograph Vision 450, a state-of-the-art PET/CT systems offering some of the most advanced diagnostic and imaging technology available worldwide.
This machine delivers sharper, high-resolution images and faster processing times – reducing patient wait times and enhancing overall efficiency and clinical care.
With limited PET/CTs available across all Indonesian government hospitals, Icon Cancer Centre at BIH are increasing access to vital medical imaging and essential local cancer care.
An urgent need
Cancer is the second leading cause of death among non-communicable diseases in Indonesia, with cases rising each year, however, access to PET/CTs remain extremely limited.
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), developed healthcare systems should have at least one PET/CT per 1-2 million people to meet the needs of neurologists and oncologists.
With Indonesia’s population exceeding 80 million, meeting WHO recommendations would require approximately 140-280 PET/CTs, to adequately serve the patient need.
Connection through partnerships
Through a strategic partnership with BIH, and broader collaboration with Indonesia Healthcare Corporation (IHC), Icon is able to provide integrated comprehensive care to patients in Bali and beyond.
The addition of PET/CT within this world-class centre is further advancing the standard of care in Indonesia and complements our commitment cancer care in the ASEAN region.
PET/CT is now available at Icon Cancer Centre Bali.
